Required Labs

Prenatal Profile

Includes:

  • CBC with differential and platelet count
  • Antibody Screen
  • RBC with Reflex to ID & Titer
  • ABO Group & RH type
  • RPR Reflex to Titer and Confirmation
  • Hepatitis B Surface Antigen (HBsAg) with Reflex to confirmation
  • Rubella Virus IgG Antibody

U.S. Patients: Done at first visit after confirming pregnancy

International Patients: Obtain results from your physician.  Usually only need to do the rubella lab at first visit.

HIV Lab
U.S. Patients: Two HIV labs are required @ the 1st trimester and 3rd trimester. 1st trimester typically done at first visit
International Patients: 3rd trimester MUST be done in our office.
Sickle Cell/Genotype
U.S. patients: usually done at 1st visit
International Patients: Your physician will typically do this lab; bring results with you.
Pap/GC/Chlamydia
U.S. patients: usually done at 3rd office visit.
International patients: will be done at initial visit if not already done.
1 Hour Glucose Challenge Test
U.S. Patients: will be done at 26 weeks
International patients: will be done at initial visit if not already done
Urinalysis (UA)
U.S. Patients: usually done @ 3rd office visit and again @ 26 weeks
International Patients: UA and CBC will be done @ 1st visit.
Group B Strep
U.S. & International Patients:  Lab done between 35-37 weeks

International Patients:  Standards of Care vary from country to country.  Because you will be receiving care in the U.S.A., you will be required to meet our Standards of Care.  Please have your physician provide you with all prenatal labs, the date done and results so we do not have to redo the labs.

U.S. and International Patients:  From time to time, Dr. La may need to order additional labs in order to treat a new or existing problem.  Our office will provide you with an explanation of why the lab is necessary and the cost.
